Canberra United Powerchair team
The Canberra United Powerchair Football is a team sport designed and developed specifically for power wheelchair users. Participants include persons with quadriplegia, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, head trauma, stroke, spinal cord injury and other disabilities. The Powerchair Football program at Capital Football has been in operation since 2018 and is home to a committed and passionate group of players who love training and playing together. The sport offers them important mental health and social benefits as they form valuable social connections and learn to work as a team to overcome challenges. Capital Football are committed to providing inclusive programs that are safe, reliable, and accessible.
Our FISCA fundraising for the Canberra United Powerchair team has been designed to improve the safety and reliability of the team. We aim to improve the safety and reliability of equipment and infrastructure, including regular maintenance and programming on our fleet of Strike Force Power Wheelchairs, and an improved fit out of the Strike Force Power Wheelchair storage space.
Our fundraising also aims to provide support for our elite powerchair players to excel in the sport as they travel to compete in interstate matches and tournaments.
